ROLE | design research

OVERVIEW

In Collaboration with United Way, Apano, Adelante Mujeres, and Black Parent Initiative, #EveryoneIn was a community research initiative that explored modes of sharing for low-income parents in isolation. Through gentrification, the loss of community had become more insidious. To explore the problem and identify key opportunities for United Way, we incorporated design research principles, gathering information from subject matter experts and members of each community.

OUTPUT | An actionable and synthesized plan for United Way and non-profit stakeholders, demonstrating key leverage points, opportunities, and execution methods.

METHODS

COMMUNITY INTERVIEWS | Participants from each non-profit community were interviewed alongside their community advocate, following a discussion guide based on community, sharing, and technology.

IDEA GENERATION |
Stakeholders were asked to rapid storm ideas about community and sharing. Post-it notes were then sorted into groups, followed by a facilitated discussion.

CARD SORTING | Participants were given cards with a variety of social networks and sharing apps. They were then asked to select apps that they liked/didn't like and discuss the features that stood out.

TARGET GRAPH | Participants were given icons and asked to place it on the Community Involvement target. As they selected, they explained what they felt the icons represented and their reasoning behind placement.

SYNTHESIS | Utilizing the P.O.I.N.T.S method, qualitative data was synthesized into actionable solutions.
